DEVLOG #1: Guild Hall Access & Core Gameplay Loop

Hello Adventurers,

We are really excited to show you what we have been working on with Rumors & Relics.

This week we made the games core gameplay loop stronger. Made the tavern feel more real.

RUMOR BOARD SYSTEM

One of the things we are working on is the Rumor Board. This is where players can look at all the rumors and choose which ones they want to explore. They can do this by getting a group of adventurers

As you can see in our pre-alpha video players can:

  • Look at all the contracts they can take on
  • Read all the details of each contract
  • Check how hard and how dangerous each contract's
  • See what rewards they can get
  • Start putting a team of adventurers

Each rumor is like a story that is waiting to happen. Some might lead to treasure. Make you famous while others could get you hurt or make things worse.

In the example we showed players can look into a disturbance that is happening. They can see how hard it is, how much danger is involved and what they can get if they succeed.


GUILD HALL INTEGRATION

We have been working on the Guild Hall, which's where players can find and manage their adventurers.

From the Rumor Board players can quickly go to the Guild Hall to look at all the people they can hire before they put together a team. We are moving the Guild Hall to a part of the tavern and making it look nicer so stay tuned for that.

This connection between contracts and hiring people is a part of the game. It is up to you to decide what to do. You can send in the Drunkard Thief and risk losing money. You can pay more to get the Veteran Knight who is always reliable. The choice is yours. The story is yours too because every time you play will be different.


TAVERN ATMOSPHERE IMPROVEMENTS

The tavern is getting better and better. We have made some changes like:

  • Making the fireplace look more real
  • Improving the sound
  • Making the menus easier to use
  • Making it smoother to move between parts of the game
  • Making the tavern look nicer

We want the tavern to feel like a place where all your adventures start and end.


BEHIND THE SCENES

We have been working on some things that you might not notice away like:

  • Making the sound work better
  • Making the menus work smoother
  • Making it easier to move between parts of the game
  • Creating a system to make rumors and quests
  • Making the Guild Hall work with the rest of the game
  • Making it so you can save and load your game

These things are important because they help make the game stable and make it easier to add things.


RUMORS & RELICS - UPCOMING MILESTONES

We have some things coming up like:

  • More kinds of contracts
  • Improving how you hire adventurers
  • Adding a system for getting hurt and recovering
  • Making a screen to show what happens on your adventures
  • Adding things to do in the tavern
  • Making it so you can save and load your game
  • Making the world feel more alive

We will be posting a timeline for Rumors & Relics so you can see what is coming up.

We are getting closer to having a demo that shows the Rumors & Relics experience.
